Hello!

My name is Sarah Coombs and I am an entertainment marketing executive based in Wellington, New Zealand. I have deep experience in entertainment campaign development and brand strategy with a focus on cross-promotional content creation.

I started my career at Twentieth Century Fox as a field publicity intern and eventually rose the ranks to Vice President of Media Promotions. While media promotions is a specialized corner in the world of entertainment marketing, it has given me a broad perspective on how all aspects of a campaign can work together to create a blockbuster brand from scratch in mere months – a feat that is exceedingly unique in our fragmented media world.

A few of the notable campaigns I’ve worked on include: Ford v. Ferrari, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Hate U Give, Deadpool, The Greatest Showman, The Post, Hidden Figures, Love Simon, The Revenant, The Martian, Logan, The Heat, The Fault in our Stars, Let’s Be Cops, Marley & Me, The Devil Wears Prada, The Family Stone and Walk the Line.

My tenure at Fox also allowed me to work on multiple installments of marque franchises such as The X-Men including both Deadpool films, Ice Age, Night at the Museum, Die Hard, The Planet of the Apes, Kingsman, Alien, The Maze Runner and Taken.

For the last three years, I was the head of marketing at Weta FX, where I developed and executed refreshed creative brand strategy for an iconic 30+ year-old filmmaker-founded visual effects company, that included client marketing collaboration, co-marketing efforts, industry conferences, and more. I also directed a creative overhaul of social media channel content and posting strategy resulting in 80K organic audience growth and a 25% increase in engagement rate via 200+ pieces of original content over 3 years - a record for the company.

A large part of the work was directed awards campaign strategy, produce submission materials and logistics, and coordinated events for VFX and industry guild organizations such as AMPAS, BAFTA, VES and Academy Scientific and Technical Awards. This resulted in two Oscars, two Emmys, four Sci-Techs, and 14 VES wins for projects such as Avatar: Fire and Ash, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Last of Us, House of the Dragon, and Stranger Things.

The creative showcased on this website represents my content work, created in close collaboration with my talented co-workers and valued colleagues. This is work I’m extremely proud of and I’d love to create more with you.

Let’s work together.
